Dear current and future members of the European Overtone Choir "EOC",
Once again we cordially invite you to join us for our annual Easter Choir Week, which will take place from 9. April to 15. April 2012 in Hotel Kress, Sprudelallee 26, 63628 Bad Soden-Salmünster, Germany.
Our week begins on Easter Monday at 18:00 with dinner. You should arrive in the afternoon.
The choir week will be under the direction of Prof. Steffen Schreyer (our conductor) and Wolfgang Saus (our overtone- and soundcoach). In will contain many hours of intensive rehearsals, exciting afternoon-workshops, individual voice coachings, and creative jam sessions in the evenings. The week will culminate in a concert on Saturday night in a representative location in town. The week ends on Sunday after breakfast.
This invitation is directed at experienced choir singers. Knowledge of overtone singing is welcome but not mandatory. We will offer workshops in overtone singing that offer the chance to learn or improve this singing technique.
The following contains all necessary information and a link to the reqistration form:
The choir week
As in the previous two years, we will stay in the beautiful 4 star Hotel Kress (www.hotel-kress.de). Under the proven direction of Prof. Schreyer and Wolfgang Saus we will once more rehearse exciting choir pieces, soundscapes and improvisations, which will create a bridge between classical choir music and overtone singing.
Registration for the easter rehearsal 2012 is now possible. Please use the link below to the registration form. After registration, you will soon receive a mail with the bank details and further payment infos.
The choir
The EOC is a project choir that consists of the 16 to 60 participants that come to each rehearsal week. It was founded in 2006 and meets two or three times a year, usually in Germany or the Czech Republic.
The cultural role of overtones as the common underlying sound of all spoken languages is a source of the project. Shared social activities complement the rehearsal schedule and help to create international friendships. The choir language is English with translations into German and Czech where required.
This choir is unique in Europe for singing classical choir works as well as overtone pieces that were especially composed for the choir and will therefore be presented as world premieres. Also, because of their training in overtone singing, the choir members are exceptionally good at creating a homogeneous timbre and a unique choir sound.
Participation
Participation is open to anyone with choir experience. Knowledge of overtone singing is not required, but of course welcome. We will teach you the necessary techniques during the week. While the choir week is open to all singers, we reserve the possibility to sing some pieces of the final concert only with a smaller group of people.
Outline of the week
On the first day of the meeting all new participants will have a short coaching with the conductor the assess the range of their voice. In the course of the week we will rehearse in a large group with everyone, or in smaller groups according to voices or skill levels. Rehearsals will be in the morning and afternoon in the conference rooms of Hotel Kress. Traditionally we will have interesting workshops and presentations about the voice during the lunch break.
